Hello to All from Toledo, Ohio, USA!
This is Mary Ann Hotz from the Toledo Swiss Singers and I am the housing chairman for Saengerfest 2018. If you have not been to Toledo for a long time, or maybe you have never been here, you will see many changes as the downtown continues to be revitalized with numerous new businesses, corporate headquarters, recreational areas, restaurants and other attractions.

The hotel we chose is called the Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel. Although the hotel was first built in 1985, First Hospitality Group out of Chicago bought it over a year ago and they have done an amazing $31 million renovation. The hotel was completely gutted with new wiring, plumbing, heat/air, room fixtures, furniture etc and is nearing completion with the grand reopening less than 2 weeks away. The common areas and the rooms spotlight some of the things that Toledo is known for including the glass industry, Jeep and auto industry, Cpl Max Klinger from the "M*A*S*H" program, Toledo hockey and baseball teams. It is considered to be a 4-star luxury hotel. The hotel sits right on the Maumee River. In some areas there is a 360° view of the city. The 12th floor is now a restaurant/bar featuring small plates and a wood-fired pizza oven. From that area is access to an open-air terrace.
I can almost hear the yodeling and alphorns from that 12th floor terrace.
Just a short walk across the street is the Valentine Theatre, where we will be holding the competition and grand concert. The Valentine is considered to be a showpiece in downtown Toledo. The Toledo Swiss Singers are confident you will be pleased with both the theater and the hotel.

About the Renaissance
Originally the Hotel Sofitel when it opened in the mid-1980s and many other brands over the years, the hotel closed for refurbishment in 2015. The inside of the revamped 12-story hotel is locally inspired, a mark of Renaissance hotels, part of the Marriott family. The Toledo theme is visible from the front entrance to every room.
